Why had every syllable mock any ounce of reason
They lost that years ago, like dark, corrupt souls out of season
For they were abandoned long ago
I tried to show them the truth, but their anger wouldn’t allow it known
Listen through the emotions, there’s some sensibility within this tongue
I used to be just like you, before those holy bells rung
And now I can breathe easy, knowing the battles been won
I want to extend a flag of grace for you to lean upon
But you keep fighting for what?
Those lies you’ve been told
Those pains who still kept hold of your heart
Those searing burns that God set upon your tongue
You believe He hates you, but He’s just making you num
When He reached His hand out, you wanted to be left alone
So Here we are empty, fighting lost songs
You try to convince me of the holiness that this being once sung
But those notes were taken, from our Father’s lines
You believe it’s a fable, and I’m telling you the fruit of the vine
Extends from the unshakable root
That’s why it hurts your truth
Shaken at the core, it was flimsy because it had no core
Because the lines don’t match in tone
Because it doesn’t have a sound roar
So God overcame that desperate chord
So you might we tossed out of that root and come back into His fold
